- Almost ready!
These students are from the north of El Salvador which is still very poor.
- The audience
Some of the local children in Los Cobanos, a tiny fishing village on El Salvador`s Pacific coast.
- Happy faces
The village of Los Cobanos is very poor, with most of the children living in basic shacks made of metal sheeting and wood and limited access to fresh water and electricity.
- Let the games begin.....
I understood only a little, but the children seemed to enjoy it!
- Police presence!
The local tourist police provided security.... you know how these circus performances for children can get out of hand.
This is probably one very few performances most of them will have ever seen.
All of the students have a tragic past and many have a lot of problems, including friends and family involved in the brutal Mara Salvatrucha gang.
- Well earned applause
Despite, or maybe because of, all their past and present problems they are a wonderful group full of life and joy.
- One for all.....
Maria on the left is the lady from Spain who has spent the last 3 years in El Salvador working with these kids. Kali, on the right, is the owner of a local hostel who invited the group and is doing some great work with the local children.
