Octopus mostly hide in holes or under rocks during the day as they are nocturnal feeders. However they are quite inquisitive so will put their heads up to see what is happening as a group of divers goes by (see inset photo)! These are a type of animal called a hydroid and have the same stinging structures as the rest of cnidarians, despite their innocuous appearance.
